Essential Oils + Skin

Remember as a "kid" when we were told to always wash our face and care for our skin? Yeah... that doesn't really sink in until we get older, when the NEED for a skincare routine becomes more and more apparent. I'm by no means an expert, but I do know adding essential oils into the mix has definitely helped.

"There is an anti-aging possibility, but it has to come from within"

There's a science behind why essential oils can improve the vitality and appearance of your skin. Many have natural properties to promote skin health, hydrate, clear up blemishes, and even help more significant skin problems like eczema and psoriasis.

Choosing from the range of EOs for skin can be a bit overwhelming, so I've put it all in one place for you! It's in list form because this is usually how I digest info best ;)

(There are definitely more, but I have to sleep at some point!)

BLUE TANSY - Part of the chamomile family, Blue Tansy is full of calming, soothing benefits for reducing redness and managing conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis and other inflammatory issues. From very sensitive skin to serious acne to severe dryness and even signs of aging, this oil treats a number of diverse skin needs. Careful, its BLUE!

CARROT SEED - Rich in antioxidants, helping to neutralize inflammation and wrinkle-causing free radicals. Helps to smooth skin and aid cell regeneration.

FRANKINCENSE - Works wonders for all skin types. Has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory benefits, making it great for acne-prone skin. A natural toner, encourages new cell growth (helping with aging and scarring) and also helps soothe chapped, dry skin.

GERANIUM - Powerful anti-inflammatory. It helps improve skin elasticity and texture. It also promotes blood circulation, helping to heal bruises, broken capillaries, burns, cuts, dermatitis, eczema, ringworm and other skin conditions.

LAVENDER - Lavender is a relaxing, anti-inflammatory that speeds the healing of wounds and increases collagen production. This is why it’s great for aging, mature skin, as well as blemish-prone skin.

MYRRH – Helps with aging, chapped, irritated skin. It has strong antioxidant properties that help improve skin tone, firmness, and skin elasticity, helping to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

NEROLI - Great for oily, sensitive and mature skin. Good for all skin types! This antioxidant, anti-inflammatory essential oil contains a natural chemical called citral, which helps regenerate cells. For this reason, it’s said to be very good at preventing and healing stretch marks, as well as smoothing fine lines. Its antibacterial properties also aid blemish-prone skin.

PATCHOULI - Particularly nice for aging skin. It promotes new cell growth and smooths the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Because it also has antiseptic, antifungal and antibacterial properties, it can also benefit skin conditions such as eczema, dermatitis, psoriasis, and acne.

ROSE - One of the best essential oils for dryness as well as aging, mature skin. Researchers have found it contains several therapeutic compounds known to promote healing, especially antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory. As a result, Rose helps refine skin texture and tone, and can be helpful with managing skin conditions such as psoriasis and dermatitis. One study even found just inhaling this oil inhibits water loss in the skin.

ROYAL HAWAIIAN SANDALWOOD - Valued for its moisturizing properties that create a complexion that glows! Also Helps reduce the appearance of blemishes for younger-looking skin.

SACRED SANDALWOOD - Ability to promote healthy looking, smooth skin. Encourage a smooth complexion, helpful in reducing the appearance of skin imperfections.

TEA TREE - One of the more well-known essential oils for acne and blemish-prone skin. Its antibacterial properties help ward off acne-causing bacteria and assist in wound healing. It also helps to regulate oil production, fighting breakouts before they even start.
